Go beyond the parking lot at Henlopen State Park and meander the hard packed trail along Gordon’s Pond: shore birds, marsh land, sunsets, sunrise, peaceful scenery arriving at the observation platform for vistas of the pond and the ocean. Lock your bike and take the hiking trail for a peaceful escape to nature.

RIDE #2 Shady Henlopen Acres, In-Town Loop

Stop along the way to take advantage of beautiful marsh and ocean vistas, and to see the geese and other water foul that frequent Lake Gerar and Silver Lake. Appropriate for all ages, this is a meandering explore that every regular will tell you is the “real” Rehoboth.

RIDE #4 Indian River Inlet, Marina and Bethany

Ride #4Our Favorite! Easy / Moderate About 1 – 3 Hours of Cycling 6 Miles Roundtrip Allow 2 – 3 Hours This ride follows Bicycle Route 1, Delaware’s first statewide signed bicycle route. With generous shoulders, local cycling groups identified this stretch as a preferred north-south route. The majority of the ride is contained within the Delaware Seashore State Park, which offers vistas over undeveloped seashore, sand dunes, wetlands and marshes. Along the way stop to visit World War II submarine watchtowers, the Lifesaving Museum and a bustling marina. When you reach the Inlet, you will be rewarded with a terrific view of the ocean coastline and of Rehoboth Bay. The extended loop to Bethany offers eateries, shops and sights including an old Native American Totem Pole. Great seaside dining at Mango’s… tell them we sent you. (Want to ride even further? Easy / Moderate About 2 – 4 Hours of Cycling 9.4 Miles Roundtrip Allow 2 – 6 Hours Now you can ride along the former Junction and Breakwater railroad right-of-way (flat!) through peaceful fields, quiet neighborhoods and marshlands. Many sections are tree lined (shady!). Soon this will be a Rehoboth all-the-way to Lewes adventure. For now, you can enjoy an away from traffic ride through nature on a broad hard packed trail. RIDE #6 Scenic Countryside Ride

RIDE #6Easy / Moderate About 2 – 3 Hours of Cycling 21 – 26 Miles Roundtrip Allow 2 – 6 Hours Travel along paved level terrain through characteristic rural Delaware Shore agricultural areas. Away from the dunes, beach and surf… a totally different experience of the shore. Peddlers Village Shopping Center is a great mid-ride place to stop for ice cream, pizza, deli, bagels, donuts and more. Check out A.J.’s Brewing Company for their unique organic sodas and birch beer brewed on the premises… then come back later for dinner & with a designated driver for the other kind of brew.

RIDE #7 Cape Henlopen State Part, Historic Lewes

Walk to the top of a World War II submarine watchtower and bunker, climb to 80 feet above sea level on Great Dune, fish, bird watch, explore miles of bike trails and then cool off on the empty beaches. Catch the ferry, enjoy the cruise to Cape May and meander this quaint vacation setting.
